Your Tax Filing Deadline Depends Upon Your Tax Filing Status:
If your filing status is:
- partnerships (Form 1065)
- multi-member LLCs taxed as partnerships
- S corporations (Form 1120-S)
- NOTE: This is the due date for calendar year business filers. If your business uses a fiscal year instead, your tax due date is the 15th day of the third month after the close of your tax year. For example, if your business’s fiscal year is June 1 – May 31, your business tax return due date would be Aug. 15 — three months and 15 days after May 31.
Taxes must be filed by March 15, 2025 (Sat.) OR an extension must be filed by this date.
It is also the deadline to file Form 2553 to switch your business election to an S Corp for tax year 2024.
If your filing status is:
- individuals/families (annual personal income tax filers) (Form 1040) – for traditional employees who receive a W-2
- self-employed sole proprietors – Schedule C (including freelancers, independent contractors, or gig workers)
- retirees
- estates and trusts (Form 1041)
- C Corporations (Form 1120)
- single-member LLCs
- LLCs taxed as corporations
- NOTE: If your business uses a fiscal tax year, you must file your business tax return by the 15th day of the third month after the end of your tax year.
Taxes must be filed by April 15, 2025 (Tues.) OR an extension must be filed by this date.
If an Extension was Filed, these new Filing Deadlines then Apply:
September 15, 2025 (Mon.): On this date, taxes must be filed for the entities below, provided that an extension was in place:
- partnerships (Form 1065)
- S corporations (Form 1120-S)
October 15, 2025 (Wed.): On this date, taxes must be filed for the entities below, provided that an extension was in place:
- individuals/families (annual personal income tax filers) (Form 1040) – for traditional employees who receive a W-2
- C Corporations (Form 1120)
- estates and trusts (Form 1041)
